Topic: Seeking a Routing Solution - UCX

Hi

Before I try to figure out a routing solution I thought to ask for some advice.

I want to do the following using TotalmixFX: send sound from software (Reaper) to RME outputs, then on to an external desk. Form the desk the mix is sent back into the RME analogue inputs and on to my software (the same software) for recording. Can this be done?

To summarise my hopeful solution and to ask if there's a better one:-

8 software channels (from Reaper) go to outputs 1 – 8 of the RME

These outputs go to an analogue desk for mixing

The stereo mix goes back into the RME via analogue inputs.

From there (using Totalmix) the stereo signal goes to outputs (? - ADAT?), then via loopback to two channels on the software set up for recording.

I think I ‘ve got a grasp of the loopback function but I just want to check if all this is possible. Any advice would be much appreciated.

This should not be necessary, just record the stereo analog input channels directly in Reaper on a new track.

Otherwise, the plan is fine.

of course - makes sense now. For some reason I looked at the manual and saw that the hardware inputs aren't connected to the software playback.
