Topic: Another Express Card problem

I purchased a HDSPe Express card a few days ago to use with my Digiface.   I had two days of good testing, and now everything has gone bad.

When I try to play back a Reaper project, the playback freezes and a high pitch squeal comes out of the outputs.  It is not subtle, but loud.  Closing and reopening Reaper creates a message about not being able to find ASIO audio device or something like that.  Checking Reaper audio device preferences shows all ADAT inputs and outputs are no longer available, but the lights on the Digiface indicate normal.

The mouse action gets real sticky and slow when this happens.   Shutting down the computer requires hard shut down with a power switch.  One one occasion, got BSOD.

I have a show to record tomorrow.  I need a solution or will have to bail and use another system.

Please advise.   Do I have a defective Express Card as I have read elsewhere on audio boards? (ser#23121299)

Re: Another Express Card problem

Thanks for the advice.   Recording now for 45 minutes without "freezing and squeallng", but it worked fine for two days without that BIOS setting.  If it runs for two hours, then I will try playback tests.

Do you have any other advice for computer or bios tweaks to optimize performance with Express Card and Digiface?

Re: Another Express Card problem

Win 7 power scheme should be "high performance".

Other than this, it's up to the computer builder to provide a good home. Maybe Lenovo has an updated BIOS available that could help.

Re: Another Express Card problem

You BIOS tweaks seem to have fixed the problem.  I'll keep my fingers crossed for the gig today, and look it to more hot-rodding next week.  Don't want to tweak something incorrectly at the last minute.

Thanks for your support.
