Topic: babyface - problems at startup...

i just bought a used rme babyface!
i´m very happy with the sound of it!
i do have some problems though!
i didn´t get the usb power cable that normally goes with this device!
so i had to buy a new usb cable!

when i have the babyface connected to my computer and start it up, there is a loud distinct and pulsating noise, right from the start!
this noise won´t stop and when the computer has finished starting up, the noise is still there and nothing happens when i try to open totalmix (can´t start totalmix)!
the only way to fix this, is to unplug the babyface and then plug it in again!
after that, everything works like it should!
kind of annoying to have to do this every time i start my computer, though!

any ideas?
the usb cable i bought is 1.8m long!
i also bought a powered usb hub, to hopefully provide more power to the babyface, but that didn´t help at all!
the motherboard i have is asus zabertooth z77!
running windows 7/ 64 bit!
i have the latest drivers for the babyface installed

Re: babyface - problems at startup...

connect an external power supply to the Babyface!
specs are in the manual and on the bottom of the Babyface!

Re: babyface - problems at startup...

ok, thx i´ll try that!

but if an external power supply is required to run the babyface...
why isn´t it included in the first place?
and how come it runs just fine, when i connect the babyface, after the computer has started!

actually i have 2 babyfaces!
1 for my laptop and the above mentioned 1 for my stationary pc!
i´ve never had any problems running the babyface on my laptop, without an external power supply!
so i think it´s kind of weird that i would suddenly need extra power, on my stationary pc, when i don´t need it on my laptop...?

Re: babyface - problems at startup...

i found another usb cable lying around, so i just tried replacing the usb cable and it seems like problem solved, so far!
the q is..., if the babyface gets barely enough power through the usb..., would it run/ sound even better with the extra power from an external power supply...?

Re: babyface - problems at startup...

No, if the supply is sufficient, adding external power will not improve anything.
