Topic: UFX, noise using the compressor

Hi !

I am new in this forum and new with RME products.

I just bought a UFX, and i have some "noise" when i use the compressor.

You can hear a sample in this MP3. My guitar was in the INPUT 9,
and i play with and without the compressor engaged (and i use a preset).

Maybe i have electric problems ? Do i need a power conditioner ?

Please tel me your opinion smile

Thanls a lot,

Dominique.

Re: UFX, noise using the compressor

I have updated the driver few hours ago with the 3.070 version (for FIREWIRE),
And i think the firmware is up to date.
when i fire up my UFX, this is the 1.51 version.

Thanks for your quick response ! smile

Re: UFX, noise using the compressor

Do you refer to the slight background noise in the second sample? That would be normal, it seems, as the compressor amplifies low noise...by design...

Re: UFX, noise using the compressor

yes it is !

Re: UFX, noise using the compressor

Well the compressor does amplify. But also the setting of the instruments input level might pose a problem.

I have here a super clean input from a yamaha keyboard when I use the +4db surely there is a lot of noise that will also be amplified by the compressor.
But the right setting here gets rid of most.

With the guitar you will come in really hot so you might only be using the instrument setting and never tried the other ones.
But it is worth a try.

Yet, I do not have a guitar to try on my own.
