Topic: latency problems with RME Fireface 800 and MacBook Pro 15" early 2011

Hi
I am a composer and i am working on a cubase 6.5.4 project with 50 midi track. With my RME fireface 800 and 2048 samples (if i decrease the value for obtaining less latency the audio "crops" and if i increase the frequency to 96k or 196k the latency decrease to 10 or less ms but the audio "crop" again) at 48k and 24bit i have a latency in the system of 44ms that seems to me too high with this soundboard. I use much sample libraries but all is hosted on a server running win 7 through the ethernet connection and Vienna Ensemble PRO 5 so it don't load the CPU or RAM of the macbook. i have also a big delay in the Cubase GUI (for example when i am scrolling mouse wheel or when i move the scrollbars and open menus while is in playback) that i think to depends from the latency of the system....The problem could depends from the chipset of the firewire controller on this model of macbook pro? is it a Texas instruments chipset? How working this soundboard with thi model of mac, anyone have been the same problems?
Thanks

Could also be the network access for your library interfering, the FW chipset should be fine with all post 2009 Macs. Two things you can try:

1) Try running via the onboard sound to see if you experience similar issues (especially the GUI lag).

2) Download Coolbook (www.coolbook.se) and push the CPU load slider up over 2 (towards 10) and see if that helps against dropouts (I assume that is what you mean by "crops"?).
