Topic: Real newbie -iMac and UFX

I would prefer to be able to read up on this but I haven't found anything that seems to explain aggregate devices in the iMac and how Total mix interacts. My question is if I create an aggregate device in the iMac with the iMac's system output set to the UFX's AN1 & 2 (for example) do I then need to do any routing in Total mix? [and if so what will the iMac's show up as?] Sorry to trouble people with such a newbie type question.

Re: Real newbie -iMac and UFX

What you wanrt to do has nothing to do with Totalmix, IMHO. If you want to have the system sound through the UFX, choose UFX as audio I/O in the system preferences, that's all. Agregate is made to use more than one interface in one soft, not for routing an interface into an another one.

Re: Real newbie -iMac and UFX

Thanks Jean-Michel but if I do that then I cannot use the iMac's Microphone for input - hence the aggregate device question. If I understand your answer correctly then its the same thing just create an aggregate device with both and set the input for the Mac and the output to the UFX?

Re: Real newbie -iMac and UFX

If you create an aggregate, you'll see in your DAW all the I/O of you aggregate device as if it was an interface. If You aggregate an UFX and the Mac's Mic input, you'll have 31 inputs, the 30 from UFX, and the Mac's Mike. Same for outputs.
