Topic: Connecting unbalanced RCA output to Fireface UC with RCA-TS cable OK?

This has been mentioned here before but is still been confusing to me.

Others have stated being confused over the manual note:
"When using unbalanced cables with TRS jacks: be sure to connect the 'ring' contact of the TRS jack to ground. Otherwise noise may occur, caused by the unconnected negative input of the balanced input."

If I am to connect an unbalanced RCA output from a line-level device to inputs 3-4 of the Fireface to take advantage of the additional gain, what cable would be optimum?

An RCA to TS cable or an RCA to TRS cable configured according to the above manual note?

If connecting a synth to this input, should it be TS to TS cable or TS to TRS cable (as configured above)?

If you have a good understanding of the manual's note, please clarify.

Thanks!

A TS connector automatically shorts the ring contact within the jack. Which is quite obvious if you lie both TRS and TS side by side.
