Topic: Fireface 800 w/ 2 ADATs: no audio from 2nd ADAT in Pro Tools

Hi all.  Noob question here:

I'm trying to archive some old ADAT XT multitrack tapes to Pro Tools.
I have everything set up and I'm getting the 8 audio channels from ADAT 1 to tracks 1-8 in my Pro Tools session. Awesome!
I've tried a number of different setting but can't get any audio from ADAT 2 to show up on trcaks 9-16 in Pro Tools. 
The audio IS getting into the Fireface because I can see it in Total mix and hear it in phones.

2 adats synced with sync cable
optical out of ADAT 1 to ADAT 1 IN on Fireface 800
optical out of ADAT 2 to ADAT 2 IN on Fireface 800
Firewire 800 connection between Fireface and iMac
Running Pro Tools 9.0.2

Fireface settings:
inputs:  all "rear"
level in/out +4
Instrument options: unchecked
Phantom power: unchecked
SPDIF In : Coaxial (also tried ADAT 2)
Clock Mode: Auto sync
SPDIF out: unchecked (also tried ADAT 2)
preferred sync ref: ADAT 1
Bandwidth limit: all channels
sample rate 48 kHZ
word clock out: unchecked

Preset 3 on Fireface Mixer
on fireface mixer, inputs 13-28 show signal
on fireface mixer, outputs all show same signal (A1 1-8 and A2  1-8)

In protools I/O settings:
protools inputs 1-8 set to Fireface out 13-20
protools inputs 9-16 set to fireface outputs 21-28 (this may be the problem area? )

New Pro Tools session with 16 tracks, all record enabled

Maybe you will get a better reply from someone else, but afaik PT has big issues with large numbers of inputs (not tracks). A simple solution, if this is a one time project, would be to install the demo of reaper and use that for the import of the adats. It may not be a very elegant solution but after a brief setup it will get the job done and free.

afaik = as far as I know

This unit should be working fine with PT, it's only devices with > 64 channels that are not working. Try resetting / defaulting the PT I/O settings.

Sorry about the forum shorthand. And "AFAIK" was a good warning cause Jeff pointed out I was wrong for your number of channels.
