Topic: ADI 8 Pro defect, HIGH COSTS

Hi, I'm an enthusiastic RME user but my ADI-8 pro had a strange defect.

All lights stay on after power up.
I send the unit for repair; the cost for a new PCB and powersupply will be € 835,- !! (ex shipping)

Does anyone on the forum know of another way to fix this problem?
My RME stuff is very dear to me, but this is to much to hold on to this converter
Kind regards,
Tom

Re: ADI 8 Pro defect, HIGH COSTS

Faulty power supply damaged the main board components. That means (apart from the housing) you get a completely new ADI-8 Pro inside when repairing. There is no way around this.

Re: ADI 8 Pro defect, HIGH COSTS

Thanks for the reply Matthias,

I know its a fair price for a 'new unit' minus the housing, but its a bad investment because one can easily buy a second hand DS (or even QS) for that money.

I was hoping for known error with only a couple of components involved...
Too bad...
Anyone interested in a defect ADI-8 pro ?? :-)
research costs and the powersupply i had to buy where € 260,- thats my minimum price :-)

That sums it up, I would say... The ADI-8 Pro is well over ten years old, and has probably served you well during its time. The failure is unfortunate and not necessarily normal, but these things happen...
