I've tried various settings but can't hear back anything when clicking the "sample tone"--actually, the little meter on the gmail prefs screen doesn't move when I switch to UCX.  Works fine with line out--the meter moves, the sound plays and calls work perfectly...

Other system audio works regularly--pandora/chrome, etc.

I'm on a mac pro.

Last resort will be to run toslink from the tower to the ucx, but I'd rather it just work .
