Topic: ADI-8 Pro

I'm trying to learn this piece. I bought it used and am trying to set it up now. I need to know how many simultaneous ins & outs I can use? I want to run ADAT & 1/4" from my sampler & Keyboard. I'm running ADI-8 pro DB25 input > MV8800 outs, MV8800 ADAT out > ADI-8 pro main input,
ADI-8 pro ADAT main output > Motu 828 mk2 ADAT in, Motu 828 ADAT out > MV8800 ADAT in. But I'm not sure how the settings should be on ADI-8 pro. Also I will be connecting my keyboards & my bass amp to the inputs of the ADI-8 pro to ensure I get all the maximum output sound. I'm thinking I should get atleast 16 simultaneous outputs?  I hope I explained this well enough

a couple more questions if you don't mind.
When going ADAT out from the ADI-8pro I use the main on the out side?
I'm getting input signal but no output signal or sound.

Also I'm trying to understand what the optical "aux" connection does.

Thanks, I have the manual already. Just wasn't clear on how to use the "aux" but I got it working soo that's fine enough.
