Topic: Fireface 800 after many years of splendid service not detected

Hello,
Allthough the fireface800 starts up as usual, the red light stays lit so it is not detected anymore by the host. This happened after windows got updated yesterday evening. I rebooted pc several times but i fear there is more at hand here. During the weeks before Cubase and protools started to crash quite often and this while the soundcard gave a buzzing noise.
What can i do to get it to work? Buy a new one? Is there a way to know if the chip got damaged?

Change Firewire cables, try another computer...

If the red light stays on after all that, then the unit has become defective and will require service - contact the distributor for your country for more information about where to send it for repair.
