Topic: Babyface and using outboard preamps

Very important to turn off the phantom power in total mix BEFORE hooking up any preamp to the XLR inputs. Unfortunately Its extremely easy to overlook and I learned the hard way destroying the input stages on my very expensive tube pre. Anyway, now that it has been repaired I want to make sure that there is absolutely no current running out the inputs once you turn off the phantom...

RME...Is this the case?

Also, might want to put a phantom always off in the set up so you don't accidentally hit it with your mouse and poof goes the pre....! I am amazed this has not been a bigger issue..

Thanks

RME you there?????

Is it safe?

Re: Babyface and using outboard preamps

Easy, man. PP is designed only to be powered on when a mic/di is connected and should be switched off when connecting/disconnecting. There´s no current between pins when PP is off, if you need additional clarification, take a voltage meter and try yourself. It´s safe.
