Topic: Fireface UC - Cubase 5.1.0

Hi,


I recently started using my Fireface UC with Cubase 5. When I am recording the levels are fine and the performance is actually visible in Cubase. However I can only get the clicktrack to my monitor, the recording itself is not heard.

In TotalmixFX the signal from the clicktrack is coming in on AN 1/2, however there is no other software signal visible in the mixer when I try to play back the recording. When using Ableton Live this was not an issue, the recorded sound would come in on AN 5/6 and I could monitor it without any issue.


My setup is as basic as it gets :-)

1 mic on MIC/LINE 1
2 monitors on balanced line outputs 1/2  (Fireface - Balanced Jack/XLR convertor - XLR - Monitor)
1 phone on monitor 7/8


Settings in Cubase:


VST CONNECTIONS

INPUT
stereo l /r
speakers: stereo
audio device:fireface
mic(L)
Analog 2 (not connected)

OUTPUTS
stereo out l/r
speakers:stereo
audio device:fireface
monitor(L)
monitor(R)


VST AUDIO SYSTEM

ASIO fireface USB driver selected

all active


Could somebody tell me what I am doing wrong here ? Thanks very much

If the signal in Cubase is not seen in the middle row of the Fireface mixer, something is set up wrong in Cubase. Is monitoring enabled for the track?

Yes, I have the monitor button enabled.

By default Cubase outputs to the 1/2
Have you checked the master fader ?
There also might be some pluging in the master channel insert that is keeping the signal from coming out.

Which physical outputs have you selected in VST Connection - Output?

I just created a new project in Cubase, using the exact same settings and all of a sudden I seem to be able to monitor my recording.
I have no idea what just happened :-)
