RME User Forum → HDSP(e) series → No MIDI Output from HDSP with 336
Just checking to see if anyone else has seen this problem. Since upgrading my driver to 336, I can't seem to drive my external piano module. It is hooked up to HDSP MIDI out 1. It was working well until the driver change. Now it's getting no MIDI input from the HDSP card MIDI out. Anyone?
I thought I had a signature that included my gear...guess I was wrong. Here it is:
Windows 7 64bit running Cubase 7.0.4 64bit
Intel core I7 860 running at just under 3gHz
Asus MB with 8 gigs of RAM
(2) Hammerfall HDSPs with various preamps & interfaces
Lots of Plugins from Waves and Antares
BTW, I did try removing and reinstalling the drivers...

Any chance the cards' "order" has been swapped with the new driver? Have you checked unit #2's MIDI Output and see if your MIDI data might be showing up there? Or have you tried swapping to another MIDI Output assignment in your software (opposed to swapping physical MIDI connections between units)?

Yes... I tried using assigning every output on both cards (each one at a time) to the device. Nothing would produce midi output to my external sound module. I have since had to use a different method of getting midi to the external device. This proves that the device is functioning properly...in both audio and midi senses of the word. Anyone else have any ideas?
Sometimes Windows gets confused with too many audio/MIDI devices, even when they are not currently installed. This can be fixed by looking for non-present devices in the Device Manager and deleting those entries. The method to let the DM shows those devices is described here:
