Topic: Using Multiface_1 with OS X Mountain Lion? Is it possible via Firewire

Hi, I have an old (bought in 2003) Multiface_1  Box. What do I need to purchase to use it with my mid-2009 MacBookPro and OS X 10.8.4 Mountain Lion?

Do I need to purchase a Multiface_II and just throw this Multiface_1 out the window?

The Multiface is not a FireWire device. Does your Macbook Pro have the ExpressCard/34 slot? If so, you can get this:

Nope, as far as i can understand it does not have such slots..
So basically the Multiface is useless for my MBP and I just need to use it on my PC (after purchasing a working CardBus->Firewire cord, of course)..
Thank you for the information! smile

You need the proper RME card. The multiface IS NOT A FIREWIRE DEVICE!!!!

I believe that you can destroy it by plugging a multiface directly into firewire.

I have a PCMCIA Hammerfall DSP CardBus card. Which is the proper RME Card for the Multiface, as far as I can understand.

i'm glad!

I would have hated for you to ruin a great interface by blowing it up!

And yes the pcmcia card works great (I have one myself)

I also have the expresscard and the PCI (desktop) cards. All of these work great with my multiface I's on desktop (PCI) and laptop (others).

Yes, but your 2009 MBP won't have the appropriate slot for this card. Maybe it has an Expresscard slot, then you can replace the Cardbus with the HDSPe Expresscard. Else, the MF can not be connected, sorry.
