Topic: Octamic D line inputs

Simple questions regarding the Octamic D TRS inputs:

with the gain turned all the way down, and a balanced signal coming in on the TRS, is it the same thing as running a TRS into a +4dBu line input?
signal level wise that is. I have read the forums and realised it doesn´t bypass the preamp circuit.

also, does the TRS input simply go to the exact same preamp circuit, so it also "meets" a 2k Ohm impedance?

thanks,
E

Re: Octamic D line inputs

The OctaMic D TRS and XLR contacts are connected, so there is no difference.

Re: Octamic D line inputs

and what about the difference signal level wise compared to connecting to a +4dBu "unamplified" input?
I guess my question really is:
can I use it as a balanced line input interface aswell, and get no difference in input level compared to a fixed line level input?
I´m running hardware inserts (analog loops if you will), so thats why I´m asking, I want to have the same levels going in and out of the interface as I would with a line level only interface... is it possible? is zero gain, equal to a fixed +4dBu input?

Re: Octamic D line inputs

The max input level is about +10 dBu, means it is not suitable to work with +4 dBu referenced (usually 13 to 18 dB headroom) systems.
