Re: HDSPe madiface which laptop

Ok, so if I understand, since the V23 of the madiface there is no more problems with any constructor (dell, lenovo etc..)
The problems was due to the power management of the express card slot. Am I right ?

Re: HDSPe madiface which laptop

Yes, there should be less problems than before V23. I can recommend the lenovo, I cannot speak for the Dell.

Re: HDSPe madiface which laptop

I can also recommend the Lenovo line of laptops (T and W series) as mentioned in the linked thread. As to whether the latest MadiFace firmware update will help with your problem, the PCI Express power management is only one of a number of problems that may get in the way of successfully setting up a laptop DAW. Be sure to check the DPC latency of any prospective purchase using these tools:

Depending on the type of discrete video card used, the drivers from Nvidia or ATI/AMD can also sometimes cause DPC spikes and problems (and for DAW use, the inbuilt Intel video capabilities built into the latest CPU's is more than sufficient).

I have also heard that the HP Elitebook series are worth considering for laptop DAW use.

Good luck in your search.

Kind regards,
