Topic: Madi AD 32 an upgrade from two UFX?
I presently am using two UFX (one as a slave for more converters) to record 22 tracks (actually 23 since the UFX will pass midi tracks thru to pro tools) at 24/96. I also record 2-4 "Bonus" tracks on the slave UFX with ( which can be stripped into PT).
I , recently, changed to a new mixer (actually two APB H1020s). I like the APB mic pres a bit better than the UFX mic pres I previously used. So my thought is, that since all I need are the converters (no mic pres, D to A, etc), I would want to put my money in the circuits that I use.
Now that RME has the new Madi to USB it would be a simple setup just to patch from the Mixer's direct outs to the Madi AD 32. So my question is, besides 10 more tracks (@ 24/96), is there any advantage to the converters in the Madi line (or does the UFX still remain the stupendous bargain in the RME line and elsewhere)?
Thank you.
