Topic: RayDat/AIO for Surround Setup (5.1)

Hi folks

I wanna upgrade from a 2.0 to 5.1 surround Monitoring. So I got the opportunity for a JBL LSR 4300 surround (5.1) setup. The JBL's can be connected via AES/EBU, SPDIF and ANALOG!

I have two soundcards Raydat/AIO and I realize that I need a converter to connect the JBL's.
Here is my question:

1. Is the ADI-8 DS converter a good solution, or can I gear also older models (Pro)?
2. Can I use the ADI-8 DS outputs (analog/digital) simultaneously, or do I have to switch for each output.
3. The ADI-8 DS got two ADAT inputs (main/aux), can I connect both ADAT channels and switch between the inputs?

Tnx for suggestions and recommendations!

1) Pro will work, too, up to 48k.
2) You can use both, of course, but the digital outputs get their signal from the AD converter, not from the card.
3) No. The second one is used for 96k operation.

Re: RayDat/AIO for Surround Setup (5.1)

Hi Daniel

Okay, Ive understand the analog connection... but how do I connect the AES/EBU between the JBL's and the ADI-8?
there are no XLR outputs on the converter?
TDIF-1 is not the same as AES/EBU, so I cant use a breakoutcable!
So how can I use an analog and AES/EBU output when Im sending from ADAT format?

Re: RayDat/AIO for Surround Setup (5.1)

The ADI-8 DS does not have any AES/EBU I/O.
