Topic: Help with ADI-648 ISSUE

Hi all,

Problem: First off, in higher sample rates 96k or 88.2k this is not a problem.  While recording in 44.1k 48k though signals showing up at channel 1 also show up at channel 9, 2 shows up at 10, 3 shows up at 11, etc on total mix

Setup: Mytek 8x192 is the clock source for the system and is also the first 8 channels in and out of the system. These use their Adat cards.  I have other Mytek converters as well.  8x96 ADC and 2 more 8x96 DAC.  16 channels in to record and 24 output. Pro Tools 10.3x , RME madi hdspe card and the ADI-648


What I have tried:
make sure the ADI-648 router is off
make sure 96k frame is off  for 44.1k recording -> note if this is on and I am recording at 96k there are no duplicates
Forget about pro tools in the mix, because I am just testing this looking at total mix
I checked the total mix routing and that looks ok.

Help is appreciated.

Quite normal, actually. The Aux ADAT port on the Mytek sends the same 8 channel signal as the Main port at single speed sample rates. This means ADAT ports 1 & 2 on the ADI-648 are duplicates. When you switch to 88.2kHz, Port 1 gets ch 1-4 and Port 2 gets ch 5-8.

Thanks for that information. Is there any easy way to get rid of the duplicates at 44.1k? Do I need a different routing scheme for 44.1k recording?

If you wish to change that, you'd need to do so at the source, if possible, i.e. the Mytek outputs. There is no "routing scheme", but you could ignore channels 9-16 while recording at 44/48k.
