Topic: HDSPe AES+ADI-8 DS mkiii

Hello !
I ve just purchased an RME HDSPe AES card and  an ADI-8 DS mkiii converter .
I never had worked with AES connections so I have a couple of  questions ..

1.I can have up to 4 stereo  inputs and 4 stereo outputs with a single  25 pin cable between the interface and the converter ,is that correct?
2.Can I use the inputs /outputs as MONO channels inside total mix and also inside Cubase?
I mean, Cubase is going to recognize 4X stereo I/O or 8 X mono ?
For example, if I want to use 6 mono outputs for  5.1 monitor speakers and not 3 stereo ones ,
or if I want to record a guitar through a DI  then I have to use only one mono input of the converter ,not a stereo one ..
3.If I want to use a word clock (BNC) cable for clocking, and not clocking via AES, is it better to set the card as a master or  maybe the converter ? Do I need two BNC 75Ohm cables  for that case ? Or just one ?

Sorry if my questions are stupid but I m new in this

Thank you very much and Merry Christmas

1. Yes.
2. Yes. Both, depends on how you set it up.
3. WC is not needed. Set the card as master so that the converter always follows the current sample rate.
