Topic: HDSPe TCO card freezes the system

Can't find the same problem on the internet and here. Hope somebody on this forum could help me out.

Here's the PROBLEM:

We've got HDSPe MADI card that is connected with TCO option card. Most of the time everything is ok - TCO chases the timecode (from LTC port) just fine. But... Every once in a while the TCO card hangs the whole system and shows timecode as 45:85:85:45 inside the RME drivers menu; timecode display blinks fast and is stuck at 45:85:85:45. Computer starts to show a very heavy processor load and works very slowly.

Unplugging timecode from LTC in doesn't help - after unplugging the LTC it still shows 45:85:85:45 in timecode block of RME drivers.

The only thing that helps is reboot.

Hope RME engineers could chime in and help us regarding this problem.

Re: HDSPe TCO card freezes the system

Is the MADI card on the latest firmware?

Re: HDSPe TCO card freezes the system

It was on FW 29 when we discovered the problem. I've updated MADI card to the latest firmware today and we're checking the system right now.

Re: HDSPe TCO card freezes the system

Here's the follow up.

The system works very stable after the fw upgrade. We've encountered no problems since then. This is very important because the system worked at the opening of Winter Olympics in Sochi and stability was of paramount importance.

Thanks thanks thanks RME!

Re: HDSPe TCO card freezes the system

Thanks for the feedback. Although it looks different, it was likely an issue of the PC, not the card. The latest firmware tells the mainboard to avoid any PCIe power saving, which can otherwise cause problems (sometimes it can be disabled in the BIOS).
