Topic: HDSP9632 Analog outputs problem

Hi,

i have an HDSP 9632 PCI used on 1155 i5 , H77 mobo with a pcie to pci converter. ( w7x86 )

all digital signals works fine with an external converter.
breakout unbalanced analog out and headphones are totally noised ( like playing some 24bits in 16bits converter )
there is also no reaction changing the output sensitivity ( Higain/+4/-10/XLRmode )
it's like the analog stage is not reached by the driver.
i'm using the lastest drivers and card firmware.

i checked the card on a native PCI/core2duo/W7x64 and it works fine.

i know it could be the pcie to pci converter, but in case of someone could have another issue such an i5 option or something like this.

thx

No. It IS the converter.

Re: HDSP9632 Analog outputs problem

ok....

thanks for your answer, anyway i'll use the card with external converters wink

i'll plan to use an AES EBU breakout, could it be affected in the same way ?

Re: HDSP9632 Analog outputs problem

I believe MC might be referring t to the "pcie to pci converter"...

Re: HDSP9632 Analog outputs problem

yes, is that i understood too,

i mean external converter as AD/DA trought adat, witch is working fine.

but AES/spdif is avaible in another sub-D breakout than analog.

in case of the pci-pcie converter make the analog stage out of function, is there a possibility that it put the AES/spdif stage out too ?

as adat is ok i think AES/spdif could be ok too...

Re: HDSP9632 Analog outputs problem

The 9632 needs plus and minus 12 Volts for the analog section. I expect the converter to not provide that as it is not found in PCIe slots.

Re: HDSP9632 Analog outputs problem

the adapter i use has a "floppy" molex plugged in to power the pci slot. there is another way to power the card correctly ?

Well, with the floppy connected it should work then. No other way.

Re: HDSP9632 Analog outputs problem

unfortunately it's already connected big_smile

you might be right , the matter might be the minus 12V , the molex will provide a +5v and a +12v but no -12v. this is provided by the motherboard's main power connector.

the pcie1x host can provide only +12v, +3,3v , the molex might be here to provide more power to the 12v , and the +5v which is not present.

once again, it will work fine for my use, but if it can push the knowledge further ...;)

does anyone had already experienced something like that with a pcie to pci adapter ?

Re: HDSP9632 Analog outputs problem

For Science, i soldered a wire from the main ATX to power the -12v pci pin, and it's works perfectly !

thanks you very much for the solution !
