Any plan to make the Octamic XTC fully compatible with Windows as an audio interface, not just for firmware update?
Very good question. I am about to buy one, but it would be so usefull to see just some basic audio interface functionality on this unit.
In general I am using MADIface, but I would like to have an alternative on location, in case MADI setup fails for some reason.
Yupp... Can't really believe that this sophisticated powerful device can't be used directly with the world's most widspread operating system. Had it been forgotten? I doubt. Not enough power? I doubt. Marketing reasons, I reckon...
The Octamic XTC is not really a computer interface, but RME has provided class-compliant operation to allow it to work directly with the iPad. Mac OS and Linux also support the "USB Audio 2.0" spec that allows use of class-compliant audio devices, so it can work with computers running these OSes. Windows does not support USB Audio 2.0.
There is nothing that RME can do to change this, CC support would have to be built into the operating system.

Why you can't provide a normal driver? http://www.thesycon.de/eng/usb_audiodriver.shtml does this or am I wrong here? HW/design limitations really? And IIRC Windows *does* support USB class 1 (24/96) natively.
I will close this topic now because these 'requests' lead nowhere. The XTC works exactly as advertized, it is NOT an audio interface for Windows, and we never said it is or will be.
People that think hardware and driver programming is done in two minutes and the following sales does not require a life-long support (means it costs a lot of money, therefore raises the price of a unit significantly) please look for a different device.
