Topic: Digicheck, when does distortion start (OVR ...) ?
I ripped one of my favourite CDs with EAC (exact audio copy) and converted it into a FLAC file.
Now I see in totalmix software playback (AN1/2) nearly instantly the OVR red lights.
EAC reports "Spitzenpegel 100%, Quality 100%".
Digicheck shows the following values, the settings dialog I opened for every meter so that you can see the settings, see screenshot below.
If not, why is the red "OVR LED" nearly instantly on in different Digicheck meters and in Totalmix FX AN1/2 ?
Normally 0dB is the edge of whats possible without getting loss / distortion.
Does RME have on HW Level some threshold above 0dB?
At the moment it looks like the signal goes up to +3.5dB and seems so be still valid.
Could you kindly explain to me why RME allows over 0dB and up to which level its save ?
Is it possible to control/configure the OVR LED, to warn a bit later ? It makes me nervous
Or does the default settings make sense ??
Versions: Totalmix FX V 1.01, Digicheck V 5.71, Windows 7 SP1 64bit, EAC 1.0 b3
HW: RME UFX
Thanks for clarifying.
