Topic: HDSP 9632 - faulty oscillator

Hello,

I've been using an RME 9632 for a long time and couldn't find a solution for a serious problem - once a day or two there's a nasty and loud buzz/noise on analog output. Gone itself after a couple of minutes or after PC reset... but then it comes back.

I've searched for clues over the net - this forum included - and tried everything: Windows setup, RME settings, PCI issues (I've changed my PC/motherboard in the meantime), ground loops, considered sending the card to service (after warranty) etc...

To cut the long story short - a couple of weeks ago I've researched the forum again and found this old topic:

I've just tried resoldering the crystal oscillator myself and... bingo! - the issue is gone, not a single occurrence for days.

Could RME please comment on that - is it a known issue, bad component series used, prone to aging, whatever related? - just for the sake of other users that might encounter the same problem.

Btw, the crystal oscillator I've used is this one: ABRACON  ACHL-25.000MHZ-EK
It looks like it works fine.

Best regards,
Dzidek

Interesting information, but this is not a known problem AFAIK.
