Topic: OSX multiple cards random slot identification problem

OSX multiple cards random slot identification problem.

Using OSX 10.8.5 and two RME Madi cards sometimes the cards are identified as being in a different order. The result is that if I route a signal to channel 1 on card A it may instead end up on card B.

I know there aren't that many users that use multiple identical PCIe cards, but for us that do this is a major problem.

It appears to be a OS problem as it appeared in OSX 10.8.x. we are now updating to mavericks in the hope that it MAY be fixed, but we do not know as we have heard different opinions about it. So the issue does not seem limited to RME cards (same happens using SSL Madi Extreme cards in a different computer).

In the past we did not have this problem (using OSX 10.7.5).
But going back to 10.7.5 is not really a long term solution as we soon need to upgrade the computers themselves, and it is not possible to run 10.7.5 on a nMP.

Any ideas, suggestions or known fixes?

I'm wondering as well.

Matthias?

Re: OSX multiple cards random slot identification problem

While Pål already knows about this, but no , Mavericks still have the same issue, and i have confirmed using 10.7.5 there are no issues on older OSes.

I still wonder if there could be a possible fix perhaps creating unique names for each card, or delaying the response on one card to make sure the so always locates one specific card first.
Could that work?
