Topic: 2 AES cards, 2 frequencies

Sorry if this has been addressed before, but I can't find a way to 'separate my two pci aes 32 cards so that each has a different clock setting. In a mastering situation for instance, the original file could be at 48k and the master (after analogue processing) @44k. Do I really need an other computer or to buy a card from another brand to achieve this?

Thanks!

Re: 2 AES cards, 2 frequencies

Didn't Bob Katz describe such settings in the Magix forum?

Hi Ulrich, doesn't ring a bell. Just made a search without success. Does it answer the question?

Won't work, sorry, esp. not if you're using ASIO. Not sure how your porcess would work and why you'd need both sample rates simultaneoulsly... Please provide more details.

Re: 2 AES cards, 2 frequencies

Hi Daniel, thanks for your reply and interest. Actually I am using Asio and the config is as follows :
In the mixing room I have two PC: PC1 takes care of the main mixing session (on Samoliquoia) and send stems to an external digital console which in turn send the stems to an analogue console after passing through analog racks (eq/comps).  PC2 is used both as a recorder behind the analogue mixing console AND as an FX processor to add software delays and reverb on the analogue direct outs.

Well to cut a long story short, the AD converter behind the analogue mixing desk has no reason to be slaved to the digital config upstream, particularly the FX processing. Hence my question for having my two PCI Aes32 cards in PC2 working both in asio BUT slaved to different clock sources. Is that feasible?

Thanks!

PM Bob on the Magix forum.

In general, it would work, two different drivers provided. But that's not the case with you...
