Topic: flashin g lights on M32 AD as well cant get remote control via midi

Hi I have the M-32da as well the M-32AD both in use with Madi via the fiber optics. My M-32 ad sometimes the Level display when not in use lights will randomly start flashing on the bottom of the display. The unit works fine and if i hit any key the flashing stops as well if i start to use it the flashing stops. Just wondering what this was posable a screen saver or a sleep mode, over heat warning, OR sign of a problem starting, the other unit does not do it. Any Ideas.

one other question I cant seem to get midi over madi to work the remote control well the other way around the remote control using midi over madi will not control either units. there is no direct midi cable set up, just the fiber optics im thinking that midi over madi is usable this way or do i need a hard midi cable set up. Or am i missing a driver. Card is the Hdspe

Re: flashin g lights on M32 AD as well cant get remote control via midi

Well was not able to tell what the firmware was in the manual it says it was sent with 1.4 and that it would tell me the firmware to shut down the unit and with in a second of power up the display would show the firmware. I saw lights one on top and 4 on bottom. On the other unit 1 on top and like 6 on the bottom. so i went throught the firmware procidure and was denied accuse on all midi chanels execpt madi midi ch 3 in and out. i did the up date. What was odd was i had  the update on the 2.4 AD but when run the DA unit light look like they were taking the up date. after update compleated and units rebooted. the DA lights read 2 on top and 1 on the bottom like it took, and the other unit M-32AD which did nothing now all lights are on every display and the unit seems not to work. its almost like the firmware updates are labled backwards as well make no sence why the AD all light are on and it will not work now execpt the firmware did something.

well now the remote works with the DA swithing lights but the unit is not passing audio. and i went to update the Da again and the DA with only execpt an update from the AD update software is says the da is the wrong software. this is very strange

Did you download the firmware updater from our website? Did you read the readme which lists units that are not allowed to be flashed? Please contact your local distributor, there is no way to fix a bricked M unit from your side.

Re: flashin g lights on M32 AD as well cant get remote control via midi

Ok I understand what you are saying about I can not fix the units. But lets clear up what was done wrong. I also understand that you from the tech support side can never be sure what i did as the owner during the update, But first how does one tell what firmware number on the leds. IS it the lights that were one the display.
And second I had both units hooked up in a loop and have been working fine over the last years execpt for my first question about the random lights flashing on the display some times like it was in a screen saver mode or a sleep or something.
Why when i ran the AD software did it update the DA unit? meaning i was running your AD software there was a randon light that were the display going on the DA similar to the update notes decribed yet on the wrong unit. why now the DA unit which looks fine but will not pass audio and the AD units have all lights on. Are you saying both units got messed up during one update. Why now will the DA unit still execpt an update from your update but only if i atempt to load the AD firmware, It like the wrong unit execpted the wrong update or there labled wrong on the website.
And yes i read the direction and used your software. As well i understand that some times things get confused in reading them. Was there a note that i was to disconnect the units and do only one because the units could except eather firmware update. but now due to this new up date it can only execpt the update of the based on the firmware inside. the DA though not working and seperated from the other will execpt a new flash of the firmware but only from the AD firmware now. lets have a bit more clartity so others will not make my mistake including myself again next time.

Re: flashin g lights on M32 AD as well cant get remote control via midi

As well I will recheck that i did not miss some numbers on the list of the units that can not execpt the flash update again incase i missed them, i will let you know. That would help to make sense of this.

Re: flashin g lights on M32 AD as well cant get remote control via midi

I pulled the unit out of the rack and rechecked the seral number and it was on the list. I have to say when i looked the first time i misread the number on the back so i got out a magnifying glass to check and i had misstake sum of the numbers due to the size of them. thus im sending them off to see if they can be updated just my luck to have one of the few versions. So for anyone reading this my eyesite is not bad get a way of reading the numbers very clearly or you will most likely have a real problem started. Funn thing is now the weid flashing is gone and the midi remote via madi now works. not that the units do.
Thanks for the help it would sitill be good to get some clarifacation on what some of this was. even how to read the firmware on the front panal.
