Topic: HDSP Madi PCI Low Lantecy Roundtrip measurement.

After many hours of work(weeks) i finaly got my system stabil.
I did some roundtrip measurement with some of my RME interfaces and Nuendo 6.

Using PC Gigabyte ex58-ud5 I7-920 win7 64bit and a lot of trimming(BIOS and Services...).
HDSP PCI MADI card, ADI-646 (madi-adat), OctaMic.(AD-ADAT) and ADI-Pro.(ADAT-DA).
Samplingfrequency is 48kHz.

Roundtrip AD-ADI-HDSP-ADI-DA: 1,54ms (without ADI and HDSP around 1ms using RAYDAT Card i think?).
With Nuendo64bit as ASIO/host, latency set to 32 (No cackle or dropouts occurs):
Roundtrip AD-ADI-HDSP-Nuendo-HDSP-ADI-DA:3,54ms
Nuendo has only total 2ms in/out delay and it is even with strip containing ie. lowcut-eq-comp without giving any extra delay but without limiter which give and exstra 1ms.
Insert Waves on channel:
Adding Waves Heq:4,90ms
Adding Waves API550:4,90
Adding Waves GEQ-Classic:4,96ms
Adding Waves C6-Sidechain:6,40ms at 48kHz (6,85ms at 44,1kHz)
All values are Total and my cpu is running pretty low.
DPC Around 110?s.
Measurent equipment: Ipad2 Interface: http://www.studiosixdigital.com/iaudiointerface2/
I can even use serveral Lexicon32bit Reverbs without any trouble.

I would like to try the same system on a MAC and even a PCIe HDSP Madi to see if any difference?

Have just been to a presentation of waves plugins with Midas and made some reallife delay measurement. The latency through a Midas desk is pretty high. Roundtrip in a Midas starts around 3ms and uptil 6ms with delay compensation and thats without any ekstra insert ie waves. Waves server is around 1,2ms so thats pretty low but AES50 to Madi conversion is around 2,1ms from klark. So inserting one channel starts from 3+2+1,2=6,2ms which is to high when using inear. Total roundtrip reach easily more than 10ms with delay compensation.

Testing using Yamaha 01v96: Roundtrip 1,17ms, insert on master thru totalmix (hdsp madi and adi-648) 1,65ms, insert on master (Nuendo, Liveprofessor and multirack) 3,65ms finally using insert on input channel gives total 6,17ms.
All figures are with plugins with "zero" latency. Madi hdsp pci card is set to 32.
