Topic: Mono sound in 64, 88 and 96kHz

Hi, all.

I re-installed my good old HDSP 9652 + the AEB8-0 expansion board, and put a stereo jack in the first jack output (1/2) of the AEB to get a stereo monitoring.
Every thing is fine at 44.1 and 48kHz, but I get a mono sound in 64, 88 and 96kHz projects.
I don’t find any answer in the manual… Did I missed something ?

Re: Mono sound in 64, 88 and 96kHz

It does not support above 48k. What happens is you switch to smux adat at higher sample rates. The expansion is effect an adat DA converter. So channel one and two are now channel 1 smuxed so mono.
If you don`t know about smux, just know that the card only supports 32-48k

Re: Mono sound in 64, 88 and 96kHz

Hi, Vincent, Thanks for the reply.

(I corrected a mistake in my first post, it’s not ‘in the first jack output of the AIO’ but ‘in the first jack output of the AEB8-0’, of course.)

I didn’t find the doc on the RME site (bad signal…) but here : https://www.manualslib.com/manual/45979 … ortunateli

Unfortunately, it seems you’re right Vincent :

Quote :

Output AEB4-O: 4 x 1/4" TRS jack, servo balanced
Output AEB8-I: 4 x 1/4" TRS jack, unbalanced

Output level for 0 dBFS @ -10 dBV: +2 dBV

Supported sample rates: 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz
Output impedance: 75 Ohm
Power supply uses 3.5" floppy connector, 12 V/5 V DC, 190 mA
Standard bracket, board dimensions AEB4: 85 x 95 mm, AEB8: 120 x 95 mm

End of quote.

So I’m trapped. No solution to work in 96kHz with this…

Great disappointment…

Note : I have no Smux option in the card setings.

Re: Mono sound in 64, 88 and 96kHz

No smux goes automatic and does not work for this card.
To bad...maybe a cheap external ad/da ?

Searching via Google will fill the first page of search results with links to RME's older website plus manual.

I think I’ll planed to change the sound card. Maybe a 192kHz.

Thanks for your contributions.
