Topic: Totalmix excessive GPU usage on OSX

I have two macbook pros. While doing some system optimization re: GPU usage today, I was perplexed to find a process that was eating up a sizable chunk of it ... and ... it turns out that it's TotalMix, on both machines.

1.) 2018 i9 / Radeon Pro 560X / Mojave
- RME UFX+ Connected via Thunderbolt
- Totalmix 1.64
- GPU usage when TotalMix is opened: fluctuates between 20-40(!)% (If i close totalmix it drops to 0)

2.) 2019 i9 / Radeon Pro 5500M / Catalina
- RME Digiface USB
- Totalmix 1.65
- GPU usage when TotalMix is opened: fluctuates between 8-30(!)% (If i close totalmix it drops to 0)

This is *not* a problem on my third machine, which is running Windows:

3.) 2019 Asus Zenbook Pro Duo i9 / NVIDIA GTX 2060 / Windows 10
- RME Babyface Pro USB
- Totalmix 1.61
- GPU usage when TotalMix is opened - D3D OFF: between 3-6% on INTEGRATED GRAPHICS not NVIDIA CARD (as it should be!)

Can we get some better GPU optimization of Totalmix on OSX? Can we get it running in OSX on integrated graphics
like it can on Windows? I (obviously, with so much of it) love my RME gear, but eating up that much of the
"good" GPU makes TotalMix really problematic when you're running graphically intensive software.

A bit OT but how are you measuring GPU usage on Mac? Or do you mean CPU?

Not CPU, GPU. Activity monitor in catalina has a column / graph view that shows GPU usage. Mojave has the graph view.

Huh, I've never noticed that.  I'll keep an eye on it.

A version with lower GPU load is 1.64 LB (Legacy Build):

Adding a switch in the preferences to let TM FX intentionally run on the Intel CPU is an interesting idea. We will check this out. AFAIR there is a third party tool which can do the same. Under Windows this seems more easy as the drivers provide such functionality directly.
