What would be the best way to connect these in order to take advantage of the RME's ad/da conversion ?
If you need just one stereo send it’s simple:
• Connect either Orion’s ADAT or SPDIF Coax in and out to ADI-2/4 Pro SE.
• Connect ADI-2/4 Pro SE’s analog out 1/2 to RAM 2000’s input with a pair of balanced XLRf-TRS (preferable) or TRS-TRS cables.
• In case you can additionally use ADI-2/4 Pro SE’s front output 3/4 for headphones.
• In the factory default settings “Auto-“ / “AD/DA-Mode” ADI-2/4 Pro SE’s analog in / AD is routed to Orion, so whatever you connect there should show up in Orion.
• Use Orion’s I/O panel to configure it accordingly.
In factory default’s “Auto-Mode” (manual page 39), if no USB or 2nd digital source is connected, ADI-2/4 Pro SE does all settings automatically, so you can skip the following steps:
• ADI-2/4 Pro SE is set e.g. to AD/DA-Mode, see manual page 41.
• Select the chosen input in ADI-2/4’s I/O menu for listening.
