Topic: X-Touch control of UFX II without a computer

I am trying to figure out if I can do this? I am not sure if I just need TotalMix to set and store on the device, or it need to be running for midi be available for the X-Touch. Also does it matter if I use MIDI port 1 or 2?

Re: X-Touch control of UFX II without a computer

Port 1 or port 2 does not matter. You have to use channel 1 for transmitting Midi remote commands,
Totalmix has to be running on the computer unless you activate Midi control on the unit.
Page 83 in the user manual :
28.6 Stand-Alone MIDI Control
When not connected to a computer, the Fireface UFX II can be controlled directly via MIDI. The stand-alone MIDI control mode is activated in the unit’s menu Options, HW Options/Diagnosis, Standalone MIDI.
Note: When not needed the stand-alone MIDI operation should not be active, as the unit will react on MIDI notes after power-on, and will also send MIDI notes.

I have never seen a manual with 83 pages… is there a link?

Hello Dimitrin
Welcome to the RME user forum
It is the official RME forum, moderated and organized from RME
It is part of the RME Website where every user manual can be found, for free, public, direct access.
If you can't find it then just use google, the product name and so on
In this case : "UFX ll user manual"
Very user friendly !

Seriously, are you kidding?

Every device is being shipped with a printed manual, even if you bought a used device, the previous owner should have / should give to you the manual.

All product pages on the web contain links to the latest version of the manual.

If you are a starter and need to make your way with TotalMix FX, maybe I should give you directly this link which gives you an overview and leads you to additional information resources on the internet.
Very recommendable are the RME video tutorials, which are well-structured and to the point. Doesn't need much time, and you get the best overview of TM FX capabilities and operations that you can think of.
