Topic: New RME user, babyface pro fs no sound on windows 11

Hello, so I apologize for this absolute newbie question, I feel like I am back to kindergarten but...
This is my first time with a high end sound card, I had a focusrite before, and I just plugged it using the usb-c cable. I updated the firmware and installed the drivers. Rebooted.

I have no sound on windows and no sound on cubase.

On cubase I assigned "analog 1" and "analog 2" as my 2 out. The LED is lighting on the babyface, but I hear no sound.

On windows, there's no lighting on the LED.

I only use Headphone, a Sennheiser HD650

Can someone help me ?

Thanks

In the taskbar there should be two icons,
RME Totalmix
and RME Fireface Settings Dialog (a fire is in this shortcut button)

Open the Fireface Settings Dialog
There is a field with a number for WDM device, make it 1 or bigger, not zero.
You can close this programm for now.
Open Totalmix.
In the corner bottom left there is a big button ASSIGN, click it and assign Phones 1 to PH3/4.
Now see the output channel Phones 1 is there next to the ASSIGN button.
Click once onto this hardware output channel "Phones 1" (it gets highlighted).
Then in the middle row of channels "software playback channels" pull up the fader of the first channel on the right side, you also can double-click onto the fader for let it jump up to full zero (full signal).
Now you have done the routing from Cubase and from Windows sound to the headphone.
Pull up the fader of the Phones 1 channel to let sound go to the headphone.
Play Cubase and check with the headphone.
Play a video from youtube and check.
Also watch all Youtube videos about RME Totalmix.

Thank you so much for taking the time. Making WDM device 1 solved everything

Do I have to use Totalmix or can I just keep it always close ?

You will open Totalmix for routing audio signals to outputs.
As long nothing is to change you let Totalmix closed.
Another wonderful software is called RME Digicheck NG.
RME interface users can download and use this for free.
It's a visualizer and is a great help during music production.
If you have a second display, place Digicheck there and let it open all the time to see the audio output of your DAW.
