Topic: Is it okay to connect Korg Minilogue XD to inputs 3 and 4

Hi,

Is it okay to connect my Korg Minilogue XD to inputs 3 and 4 on my Babyface PRO? The manual says these inputs have high impedance, so I'm using the Gain knob in Total Mix to boost the signal. Does this affect the sound quality? Should I buy different cables and connect the synth to the inputs on the back panel instead?

Thanks in advance.

Hi
Inputs 3/4 are fine for line level signals. Both Korg outputs and Babyface pro inputs are unbalanced, so that matches.

Thanks. Does the fact that I have to amplify the signal using the Gain button (in Total Mix) affect the sound quality?

No
Did you try max output on the Minilog and no input gain in Totalmix ?
Should be fine.

I turned the Master knob on Korg to the maximum. And then the RMS reaches -24db in Ableton Live. Then I amplify the signal by 7 db using the Gain knob on TotalMix and then the signal becomes acceptably loud. Around -12 db. The audio sounds okay to me, but I'm not sure if I'm doing this the right way.

To what level are the Babyface inputs set? -10dBV or +4dBu?

With -10dBV you would get a bit hotter signal and another step up you go with 'boost'.

Glad to hear! Anyway, I wonder about the low output of the Minilogue.
