Topic: Faders stuck in totalmix

Hi!

I just installed an older Multiface 1 with a PCI card in a Z400 HP workstation.
I cannot select any output to setup a mix. I cannot select anything for that matter.
I cannot move any input faders.
Only the software return fader assigned to windows can be adjusted.
I tried clearing the mix, f2->preference->disable D2D
I made sure the PCI slot was not set to "Compute" in the HP bios.
Firmware and drivers are the latest.
What's going on?

Re: Faders stuck in totalmix

ohh well.... I installed the card before and the drivers after...

The manual seem to tell that it should work but with the operationnal problems of totalmix I'm having I doubt it went that well...? Is there anything I can do to correct this?

Re: Faders stuck in totalmix

Is the red HOST LED lit up on the Multiface? Tried a different PCI slot?

You may want to try cleaning the contact pins on the HDSP PCI card, just scrub lightly with a pencil eraser and wipe away the debris.

Re: Faders stuck in totalmix

Thanks for the answer!

No the host light is shut.

Stangely all audio routed to the card show meter activities and the multiface is correctly recognised by totalmix and the RME setup application.

I just cannot control Totalmix. Everything stay greyed out even when I left or right click on it.

Is there a way to reset totalmix to factory default? Maybe something went wrong when setting the main output and hiding to unused channels?

I'm reading the manual right now to find a Totalreset.

Thanks!

Re: Faders stuck in totalmix

Oh sorry yeah I always clean contacts before installing pci devices and since the device is recognised in windows and in the bios and pass audio from software I guess the pci slot is fine...

Re: Faders stuck in totalmix

ok I found the total reset (I thought I made that up...) in Options->Reset->Total Reset

I'll try this later to see if something wonderful happen...

You did not mention your driver and firmware version.

Re: Faders stuck in totalmix

ok got it!

it is an installation over skype..... and the person I was talking to have
not seated the card properly to begin with....

I know this is stupid, it is 99% of the times I guess lol

we redid every step and got it working as it always had, that was the first
time I had any form of issue with an RME device so I was shocked!

Thanks for the answers!
