Topic: PCI Multiface with z170 Skylake?

I read that the z97 with PCI is working great with an old PCI Multiface. Does anybody know if it will also work on a z170 Skylake build? The ASUS Z170-P has 2x PCI for example. There are even µATX boards like the  ASUS Z170M-E D3 with one PCI slot (which I find very insteresing, because I would like to use a small case like µATX  when possible)

Working here with a PCIe/PCI bridge (ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming).

thanks for the info! does it also work with small buffer sizes? and is there a reason why you don't used a z170 board with pci?

I've just taken the plunge to replace the board in my main mix daw with an HDSP 9652, reasoning behind it, is my mobile recording rig (Surface pro 4 & UFX is more powerfull!) current system is aging Intel Q6600 quad 2.4ghz, 8gb ram, the hDSP9652 is just too good to ever be replaced!

Im not looking forward to getting the 4u Pc case out of the rack!

the board has 1 x PCI slot...
Fingers crossed it goes well! will arrive tomorrow and i'll let you know.

Works great without any issues. I don´t have further PCI cards anymore - So I decided to go with PCIe and use the bridge.

Solutions based on current revisions (!) of the Asmedia chipset should work (the linked solution is based on Asmedia). Some older revisions of the PCI bridge chipset didn't work so well.

Just confirming I upgraded my system today which went like a dream

upgraded from Asus p5k-se with intel Q6600 2.4ghz 8gb
to
Asus Z170-A with intel skylake 6700k CPu and 16gb corsair vengeance ddr4 3000mhz.

I was half expecting to need to rebuild windows, but it booted up first time from my SSD, just needed to install chipset/graphics driver & reactivate windows 10. Everything works perfectly cubase pro 8.5 elicenser/ilok and more importantly the HDSP9652, running like a  dream.
All my drive letters and everything exactly as they were. Amazed, I had resided myself to a day or two getting back up and running!

Some projects i was mixing while maxxed out at 4096 buffer on my old board/cpu, I have loaded up now and down to 64buffer with cpu to spare, no glitches or any issues. I reccomend this combo if you need a modern cpu/chipset with a native old pci slot!
