Topic: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

I proudly present the release of TotalKeyMix! It's a tool to control the main volume of TotalMix with hotkeys (Windows only).
You can find the download and installation instructions here:

http://www.stephanroemer.net/stuff/tota … eymix.html

EDIT: I redesigned my website and since I hadn't seen much interest in TotalKeyMix (and also because I'm not using it anymore), I have removed it. However, I provided the original source code to Ikonomov and he recompiled it with an older AHK version and posted it here: https://autohotkey.com/boards/viewtopic … mp;t=42686

So, feel free to grab it there and even modify it to your needs!

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

Wow, thanks for the sticky! smile

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

There will soon be an update that fixes the "full volume" issue on Windows startup.

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

Thanks a lot, Stevie!
Really useful stuff.
Now I can use TotalKeyMix on my older card the same way like having a Remote Control:

"Features Fireface UFX

The Remote Control is the perfect partner for the Fireface UFX. The unit allows to control the most important monitoring functions:

- Volume control of the main output and both headphone outputs (switchable)
- DIM (user adjustable value)
- Recall and store of a reference level for the main outputs (user adjustable value)
- Left button (Prog) is programmable and can control functions like Talkback, Speaker B, mono etc.
"

What I still miss is a reference level switch. Hope you can extend your work on that feature sometime.
Anyway, great job!
Can't wait for the bugfix.

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

Hi, thanks for the program. I'd like to request a new feature, make the talkback button assignable to a keyboard shortcut as well. I really need that and I don't want to buy a midi controller for that one function...

If this is already possible somehow with autohotkey and MIDI Yoke, a step by step guide would be greatly appreciated, and can't seem to make heads or tails of it! :roll

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

Hey guys!

As usual, time is too short to work more on TKM :roll but I will keep that in mind for future releases.

Cheers,

Stevie

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

Is there an an alternate for midi yoke ?  I'm using windows 7 64 bit. and it won't install:(

Thank you very much Stevie smile

You're welcome smile

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

This application is wonderfull! I like it! I've a question: How I can choose the totalmix channel ? I can control only the first pair of channel. (1-2). In can control channel number 3 , or 4 or 5 etc.. ?

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

Yes, that's right, you can only control the main out.

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

sad

Thank you Steve!

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

Sorry, if my time would permit, I would include more features hmm

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

Hi,

I'm working on a project where I'm intended to play and record at specific times automatically. I haven't still decided if the babyface or a HDSP card is the best option. In any case I need to use a Windows Pc and command the card remotely. I wonder if you have any SDK, libraries or any tool wich would make this posible for a developer.

Regards,

David Hernandez

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

Hi!
This looks realy usefull. However, I can't get it to work on the Main control room out (or any hardware output either). The only fader in Total Mix I'm controling is the hardware input faders.

I tried to change this line in the xml-file:
<Keys>
                <F7 Modifiers="Shift,Control">NoteOff, 1, 53,0</F7>
</Keys>

Accoring to the UFX manual a cc volume change should do the trick. But I cant figure out how. Can any one lead me on the way?

Regards
/Johan

Edit: Please see post #25 below for an updated download link.

The download link by Stevie in the first post is dead.  It was archived by the Wayback Machine however.
web.archive.org/web/20161102235028/stephanroemer.net/stuff/totalkeymix/totalkeymix.html, including a download link of 1.0.2b version which according to the readme fixes the problem with the stored volume level at start up
web.archive.org/web/20160508042407/stephanroemer.net/resources/download/TotalKeyMix_v1.0.2b.zip.  Here is a post by Stevie with the script autohotkey.com/board/topic/17212-midi-output-from-ahk/?p=292047.

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

Hey guys, sorry for not writing here for a while. I re-did my website and I thought there was not much interesst in TotalKeyMix (with all the iPad tools like Lemur and TouchOSC out there), that's why I didn't put it on my website anymore.
I'm completely okay with it, if you modify/share the script!

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

Stephan was kind enough to respond to my email and provide the source code and give the permission to re-post his files.  I uploaded a .zip file at the AutoHotKey forums with the source code, compiled .exe, his original instructions and a short updated readme to get things working on newer versions of Windows.

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

I find it indispensable and wish I've found it years ago.  It allows me to control the volume of my monitors with an MCE remote controller.  It should also work with most standard remote controllers for windows.  It makes all the sense in the world to separate the windows volume from TotalMix, but ever since I bought my Babyface I've always wished to have another way to control the volume (without a MIDI controller).  Huge thanks to Stephan.

In this related post https://autohotkey.com/board/topic/1721 … ntry292047

I see an information "You need to have MIDI Yoke installed"

What is MIDI Yoke ?

Hi ramses, I assume you have visited the old links I provided in my first post.  I posted an updated download link with instructions how to get things working at post #25 above (https://autohotkey.com/boards/viewtopic … mp;t=42686)  Download the .zip file there, unzip it and read readme.pdf and then readme_2018.pdf.  It was fairly simple and straight forward to get things working here.  Give a shout if you need some additional help afterwards.

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

I updated the original post with the info, thanks ikonomov for doing this!

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

Thank you Stevie for updating your original post with the new link.  I just uploaded a new version that allows easy customization of the speed of the Volume Up/Down buttons through the config.ini file.

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

Version 1.0.5 released with Volume On-Screen-Display!

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

Hello friends!

I have been interested in TotalKeyMix for about 4 years. Thank you all for collaborating for this great cause!
I found version 1.05 yesterday that includes some improvements and I love it. I keep this thread in favorites smile

Thank you!

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

Hey, I'll take a small credit for the improvements and thank you for the compliments.

I have updated the readme inside the download file found on the AutoHotkey forum with a workaround for a problem I found that prevents system standby.  The issue has been reported here https://www.forum.rme-audio.de/viewtopic.php?id=26684, hopefully in time it'll be resolved, but for the time being the workaround seems to work fine.

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

Excellent! Thanks a lot, Stevie! And also thanks to you ikonomov.

Great works are performed not by strength but by perseverance.

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

Recently I had to reinstall Windows, along with TotalKeyMix, and while reading the .pdf files I realized that I should rewrite the readme file with easier to follow instructions.  Additionally I made a few minor changes in the script and uploaded a new version 1.1.

Edit: I re-uploaded the v1.1 again with an edited readme.pdf.

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

THANKS so much for this solution!! It works perfectly together with my logitech g810 volume control. You guys are awesome!

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

Thanks to feedback from axibert I've just uploaded a new 1.2 version with updated startup configuration instructions in the readme.pdf file. It takes a few extra clicks, but should provide a much more robust way to launch the program at startup.

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

I've posted a new 1.2.1 version compiled using the newest AutoHotKey release.  It allows the setup menu to be displayed properly with higher DPI Windows scaling.  I've also edited the readme.pdf slightly making it easier to follow.

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

Would be useful in such a long thread to repeat the URL for download.
Esp. as the URL in post #1 does not work and there have also some other URLs for other tools been posted here meanwhile.
Is the source also available or only the compiled binary ?

BTW, is this tool related to or based on what I published here in my blog with a link to RME Forum where I found the solution ? https://www.tonstudio-forum.de/blog/ind … ndruck-DE/

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

The link is posted two times, in post #1 and post #25.  Same link again: https://www.autohotkey.com/boards/viewt … p;t=42686.  I thought posting it fewer times makes it easier to avoid confusion making people think there are different links.  The original download link in post #1 does not work, as stated in EDIT in the same post.  The sources for both compiled binaries are included.

The link you provided doesn't seem to be related to TotalKeyMix.

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

Thanks, sry .. I simply tried the 1st one which is in most cases the proper one (wrong expectation).

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

I've posted version 1.2.2 that reverts back to using 1.0.48.05 compiler as the .exe in v.1.2.1 was being detected as a virus.  Compatibility settings for the .exe in Windows 10 can be used to to disable DPI scaling if needed.

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

This project is now maintained by carlfriedrich at https://github.com/carlfriedrich/TotalKeyMix which has been updated to the new AutoHotKey utf-8 encoding with more configuration options and ability to control more than one fader.  In addition, it uses TotalMix's OSC Control which negates the need for using virtual loopback MIDI drivers and also making it much easier to setup.

For a simpler and more robust solution created in C# there is the tool developed by fgimian at https://github.com/fgimian/totalmix-volume-control (RME thread: https://forum.rme-audio.de/viewtopic.php?pid=174137) which also uses TotalMix's OSC Control.

Re: TotalKeyMix 1.0 released - Windows volume control for TotalMix

In the mean time an even more comprehensive solution was developed, called Nix. It does offer more functions than totalmix-volume-control and at the same time is much smaller and most important, runs also my machine without any problems.

Nix is configured with a nice GUI and offers to show

up to three channels
control room functions (Dim, Mono, Mute, Talkback...)
hotkeys to change volume, toggle control room functions, open TotalMix FX

The (volume) display can be shown as a pop-up, whenever a change is made or can be permanent. Colors and size can be configured as well.

I have been using it extensively the last month and found it to be extremely helpful in my daily use of the RME interface.

You can download it from https://www.bsound.co.nz/tools-nix
Registration fee is only 5 dollars.
