I'm having a problem with my FireFace UFX.
If I put it on higher Sample Rates 88.2 for example everything goes crazy, just very loud noise spiking continuesly.
It goes away as soon as I put it back to 44.1kHz.
What could be the matter?
Is there any other digital connection on ADAT or AES/EBU? Is the FF UFX the master (internal) clock?
When you double the sample rate, the buffer is effectively cut in half, you may need to increase the buffer.
Normally the ASIO buffersize is being doubled automatically, at least with the MADIface driver if you select higher sample rates.
But for sure, better to increase it to higher values to see, whether it makes a difference.
Another related problem might be that the computers CPU (or even disk) can not cope with the double amount of data that needs to be processed by the DAW and by each VST which is being used in the project. Some VSTs might also be very CPU hungry.
What computer is being used ? CPU, RAM, Disk ?
What DAW ?
How do the DAW project look ? How many tracks ? How many VSTs ?
Some virtual instruments or other CPU hungry VSTs in use ?
I´m Using:
Mac mini (Late 2012) Intel Core i7 2.3 GHz
It is not connected to any other Adat or AES/EBU device.
I haven´t tried with the buffer size.
It happens even when I don't have anything in my project or even have my DAW open.

I can not find this? Where would this be?

On the device, button "Setup" -> Options -> HW Diagnosis then go down this menue up to "Test Results".
Ok the numbers I get are:

Great, UFX seems ok then. Next check UFX firmware and driver version, cabling and a different computer.
In FireFace Settings the Info is:
Version: 3.31
Unit 23553664 v341
Kernel Driver v3.31
I usually have it connected with FW to my comptur. A FW400 from the RME and FW800 into the mac mini.
Now I tried a USB cable and the Mac mini didn't find the FireFace.
But when I connected with the same USB Cable to my laptop it was found there. I seem to have never versions of the software in my laptop.
There I could switch to 88.1kHz and 128kHz without a problem. But when I changed it to 96kHz the same problem came up. Noise continuosly peaking on all preamp and line channels.

Now when I reconnected my Mac Mini with FW.
I was able to change the Sample Rate all the way up to 88.2.
But when I pressed play on my DAW it all went peaking noise on all active channels.

You did not install the USB driver. Or use High Sierra and need to follow this:

I'm using Sierra.
So I installed the appropriet USB driver.
Now my computer found the FF.
I could not use 96kHz.
But I was able to have it on 88.2kHz. And play from my DAW.
But I tried recording and now there are these random clicks coming on one channel. Both in 88.2 and 44.1.
Then I tried with the Fireware cable and the clicks are gone. Except of course the same old problem where I can't use higher sample rates. It goes mad as soon as I try to record something.
My Firmware is v352 Should I be checking something out there?
Current firmware is 357 / 344...
The firmware updater always stops.. and doesn't finish.
It stops in 61% Programming FPGA Bitstream
And now the Fireface is just blinking the startup "RME" screen and doesnt turn on properly.
This is bad... bad bad bad!!! Please help!
Sounds like the internal power supply has a problem. Contact you next dealer or local distributor.
Can it not be connected to the fact that the Firmware update doesn´t finish?
After I´ve updated the firmware it doesn´t matter what I do, it´s always malfunctioned...
I can not use it.
What can I do?

I tried turning it off and then on again... and now IT SEEMS to be ok.
But hey, I can not risk having this crazy noise coming out of every channel while I have somebody in session!!!

Hello.
Thanks for all your help with this.
But I just wanted to note that I'm still having problems.
And it is occuring now while people are in my studio with their headphones on which is not only inconvenient but also a bit dangerous to their ears etc.
The Interface just randomly "looses it" and starts putting out very loud digital noise on all active channels.
Is there anything more I could do to fix this?

And I have to add.
Now it is happening much more frequently than before. It has happened about 4 - 5 times over the last 30 minutes.
