Normally the ASIO buffersize is being doubled automatically, at least with the MADIface driver if you select higher sample rates.
But for sure, better to increase it to higher values to see, whether it makes a difference.
Another related problem might be that the computers CPU (or even disk) can not cope with the double amount of data that needs to be processed by the DAW and by each VST which is being used in the project. Some VSTs might also be very CPU hungry.
What computer is being used ? CPU, RAM, Disk ?
What DAW ?
How do the DAW project look ? How many tracks ? How many VSTs ?
Some virtual instruments or other CPU hungry VSTs in use ?
