Topic: Issue with auto sample rate switching

I recently got myself the ADI-2 DAC. However, I'm having an issue with the auto sample rate switching.

I still enjoy watching movies/TV series from optical media. So I use PowerDVD quite a bit. So I used the bit test WAV files with PowerDVD to see if it switches the sample rate.

The sample rate is only switches for 32 bit files, so anything less and it won't change the sample rate but sticks to whatever the windows default is. Also only the 32 bit show bit test passed on the ADI-2 DAC.

What I've already tried doing:
- Update the firmware to the version 30.
- Installed and uninstalled the Madiface USB few times. First to update the firmware. Second to test bit test files as well. Now 16 and 24 bit will show test passed, as long as the correct sample rate is picked out via Madiface. 32 bit will not pass this time.

As I've barely had the device for over a day, so I wouldn't be surprised that I've missed something. Is there anything else I could try to get this to work?

I assume PowerDVD does not support ASIO. I have not used it for a long time.
RME WASAPI does not support auto samplerate switching.

If you want to (have to) use WASAPI you will have to uninstall RME MADIFace driver and use the Microsoft WASAPI driver which will be installed automatically. Then you will get auto samplerate switching.

I agree, I don't think PowerDVD supports ASIO. At least I haven't found anything that would indicate it does.

It does support WASAPI. Settings called: Exclusive audio output (WASAPI Exclusive). With bit test files of 32 bit it will change the sample rate to the files(and show "Bit Test 32 Bit passed"). With 24 bit or 16 bit this change of sample rate doesn't happen.

Currently RME MADIFace driver is not installed.

I've already spend hours looking for a solution. Still looking and re-reading threads I've already read in case I missed something. I appreciate any help I can get.

I am not familiar with PowerDVD, but can't you set it to always use 32 bit? Then it seems sample rate switching would always work for you.

Another idea: Hi-Fi CABLE & ASIO Bridge

It allows to use WASAPI as source and ASIO as destination (and vice versa).

Sadly, to my knowledge PowerDVD doesn't have a setting for that.

According to the information of PowerDVD the output is(for the DVD that was inside the drive) :LPCM 48kHz/16 bit 2 Channel.

Via Optical SPDIF the sample rate switching works, but I would prefer using the USB with the computer to leave the optical free for other devices.

I was wondering if the lack of 16 bit and 24 bit sample rates in the default format settings could be the cause?

Thank you, but I couldn't get it to work with PowerDVD nicely. The sample rate test in Windows settings worked fine, but I couldn't get it to repeat with PowerDVD.
