Topic: Audio Conections AES

Hello from New Zealand smile

For love or money (manual study, forum reading, you tube digesting) I cannot find AES or SPDIF in my DAW audio connections. I would really like to bounce down the stereo mix to a stereo channel.

I have XLR's from digital out and in from desk to card and I am getting sound from 2TR-D1 to monitors, I just cant route it back into my DAW.

Yamaha o2r-RME-Raydat-Cubase 11 Pro.

Any help appreciated.

Re: Audio Conections AES

Ahoy hoy ! Channel numbers 33/34 in Cubase VST connections should be the AES of the RayDat, The SPDIF should be 35/36.

Re: Audio Conections AES

Thanks for the reply. I am only seeing 32 channels

Re: Audio Conections AES

Then check the channel layout dialog for hidden channels.
May be the AES and SPDIF has become "hidden" ?
In Totalmix rightclick on an output channel to find the Layout dialog window.
User manual 20.5.3 is also helpful for this.

Re: Audio Conections AES

No, not hidden. I will have a look at the manual again.

Re: Audio Conections AES

How looks Totalmix ? Are the AES and the SPDIF missing there too ?

For Windows users, there is a WDM devices configuration dialog in the settings, may be you have to enable AES and SPDIF there ?

Re: Audio Conections AES

Totalmix has the channels not hidden.

WDM devices have AES and SPDIF showing. I am using AES to play Spotify etc. I can even sent monitor mix from desk, just nothing showing in Cubase. I think I can eliminate the issue being in Totalmix.

Re: Audio Conections AES

In Cubase I/O settings there is a reset button. Try this, then the channel list should be complete. Thereafter you have to assign the channels with busses, this might fail when done automatically.

Re: Audio Conections AES

I have reset a few times (every time I try something new).

Re: Audio Conections AES

I'm at a loss. Wondering if I should reinstall software.

Re: Audio Conections AES

Hello!

Did you try with another DAW? Reaper, for example?

Also shows us a screenshot where you do the reset and how that list looks like. Are you sure your Cubase version is able to handle more than 32 channels?

Re: Audio Conections AES

Cubase Pro 11 has 256 channels input and output
Cubase Artist 11 has only 32 channels input and output

Maybe Cubase Artist 11 is installed by mistake ?

Re: Audio Conections AES

No AES or SPDFF in Reaper either.

Re: Audio Conections AES

Open Settings dialog, Tab Global. Is the ASIO32 Channel option active? Toggle it to make sure it is off.

If that's not the cause: Which driver version is used? Which firmware version is in the card now?
