Topic: HDSPe AES PCIe with 2 ADI-8 DS MK III => no signal

I have switched from my RayDat card to a HDSPe AES PCI Express Interface in order to record 16 channels at 192khz

My setup consists of the HDSPe AES connected via 2 Avid DB25 Digisnakes to 2 ADI-8 DS MK III's. I have WordClock coax cables (75 Ohm) connected from the HDSPe AES, which is master, a 75 Ohms Resistor is connected to the WordClock-In. The first ADI-8 DS receives the WordClock, and the second ADI-8 DS receives the WordClock from the 1st, this device has the blue "terminate" button active. The first ADI-8 DS is connected to the 1-8 AES, and the second ADI-8 DS is connected to the 9-16 AES. The Clock section of both ADI's is set to WCK. The DS/QS state is not changeable when I set 192khz in the card, this seems to be correct.

The problem: I don't hear anything coming out of the speakers, nor do I see anything coming into the card. D/A state is blinking and the "Input status" of the Hammerfall DSP Settings is "No Lock". I switched also to other sample rates, no success.

Here are screenshot of my Hammerfall DSP Settings

My Raydat card worked like a charm it was intuitive, but here I really don't know what I am doing wrong. I must admit that I did not understand the WDM section, I don't know if the default factory settings are correct for my setup.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

The ADI-8 has a lot buttons on the front panel, how does it look there ?

M1-Sonoma, Madiface Pro, Digiface USB, Babyface silver and blue

Re: HDSPe AES PCIe with 2 ADI-8 DS MK III => no signal

The whole Word stuff is unnecessary. Both ADIs can perfectly sync to the incoming AES signal if set up correctly.

The fact that zero signal is shown in the card's input status makes clear that your cables are not AES Tascam cables but something different. Or you plugged them into the analog DB25, instead of the digital one (the upper one).

Okay I used the wrong cables! I have the correct ones now and everything works fine now!

Also removed the wordclock, it is not necessary.

@MC => Thank you for your hint!

If anyone reads this who might have the same problem:  Please read about pin layout here, just ordering cables with "Tascam standard" is not enough (that was my mistake) => https://tascam.com/downloads/tascam/220 … Pinout.pdf
