Topic: How to display/check the quality of the input signal

Is it possible to check / to show the "quality" of the incomming input signal:
- Samplingrate
- Bitrate
- Datarate

I use Apple Music on MacBook Pro, which is connected per USB with RME ADI-2 DAC and would like to see the "quality" of the signal comming from Apple Music

Re: How to display/check the quality of the input signal

Push 1 time the button Setup
Rotate Encoder 2 clockwise 2 steps
Now you should be in the Options submenu Clock
it shows you the samplingrate of the signal.
Datarate and Bit-depth is not shown.

You must be aware that, what the player software hands to ADI-2 and the driver, mustn’t be the original Bit-depth or sample rate.

Even if Apple Music sends ALAC 16 Bits “only“, or a data-reduced format like AAC 256 kBit/s, you player soft will convert and send this as 24 or 32 Bit PCM.
Even sample rate is possibly converted, depending on your configuration.

This is what ADI-2 and DigiCheck “sees” then, and shows.
Sample rate is displayed in ADI-2’s Main Screen’s lower right corner.

You have to rely and trust what your player software shows, if it does at all.

To check how your player soft handles local files, use RME Bit Test, see manual page 67.

Thank you to all.

I found some more interesting details for those of you, who use Apple Music and AirPlay
