Topic: Recomended USB 3.0 cable for UFX+

Hello,

I would like to stop to use USB A to C adapter to connect my UFX+ to my macbook pro.

I have buyed this one but it does not work:

Does any one know or understand if it is just a faulty cable, or if it is a wrong model one? In this last case, can anyone suggest the

good cable to buy?

With an A to B cable  and an adapter from A to C the system work fine...

Lindy cables are fine. I am using the Premium cables with 3 shields.

The cable should have worked and therefore must be called defective.

Additional info for readers in US/Canada: On my UFX+, I recently switched from Thunderbolt to USB. The Startech active USB 3.1 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) Cable (USB3SAB10M)cable 10m long is working for me. Sold by Amazon.ca It connects as USB3 (5 MB/s) to Windows 11. I also added a dedicated USB PCIe card, as recommended on this forum: Sonnet Allegro Pro Type A USB 3.2 PCIe (USB3-PRO-4P10-E) (sold by AVShop.ca)

ADI-2 pro fs be; UFX+; MADIfaceUSB; Startech active USB3 cable; Sonnet Allegro Pro adapter; Win11x64

The from you mentioned card has an ASMEDIA USB3 chip.
The "recommended cards" have FL1100 chip as this chipset has been tested well according to RME manual.

But if you see no CRC/Transport errors in driver settings (keep window open for CRC testing) then the card with this particular USB3 ASMedia chipset could be fine.

Good point about the USB3 chip difference in the newer Allegro card that I had missed. So far, I have "zero" CRC errors with a Buffer Size of 256 Samples.

However, my use does not put many demands on the USB transport. My use is AES stereo input to the UFX+ from a hifi streamer, USB out to my pc for digital room correction, USB return to the UFX+ as 4-channels for output to amps for main speakers and subwoofers.

But you are right, if you get zero transport errors then you should be fine.

The note about ASMEDIA failing is quite old. Expectedly their stuff would start to work some day...maybe that is the case now with their latest chips and chipsets...
