Topic: Wonderful video on linearizing headphones

Many thanks to you and your colleague, MC! This new video on using the EQ of the ADI-2 series for linearization of headphones is super helpful and has yielded excellent results on my Beyerdynamic DT1990 Pros with Dekoni Elite Velours earpads:

Brass-heavy orchestral works in particular sound magnificent. A fun demo:

Re: Wonderful video on linearizing headphones

Nice video! When he talks about the HD650 around 02min 21sec the graph is from a beyerdynamic with the nasty treble peak.

Re: Wonderful video on linearizing headphones

Oh no! Well, we fixed that and will exchange the video with the corrected one. Unfortunately YouTube does not allow in-place changes, so the video will have a different URL and looses all current comments/ratings. But better this way than having it wrong and confusing already on the beginning and then forever...

Re: Wonderful video on linearizing headphones

Nice. The reddit link gives a frequency response graph for nearly all Headphones. Even for my DT990 (which i did not find at the manufacturers page).

And thus i do not own an ADI-2 whith such details about the EQ - In TMFX i tried to adapt the 3-band EQ settings in my Fireface 802s Phone OUT (as good as possible).
Result may be not as perfect as the ADI-2.
But the first impression - seems to be more clear.

Thanks for the inspiration!

Re: Wonderful video on linearizing headphones

Great video! thanks Matthias. It would be great if users could upload more ADI-2 presets to extend the headphones list. I'm working on similar (to my taste) profiles for Sennheiser HD280 pro and Grado SR125i. I will share as soon I feel they are ready.

Re: Wonderful video on linearizing headphones

I’m glad the video is pointing on the fact that very high-Q filters usually don’t improve sound and could/should be abandoned.

One has to be aware, a correction can’t be more detailed than the, largely smoothed, target curve the published measurements are based on.

Re: Wonderful video on linearizing headphones

Thanks for the great video! Also in the reupload at minute 10:06 there is still a Sennheiser plot instead of the Beyerdynamic.

HD820?

As soon as the app is out for Windows I am sure we will see tons of EQ files floating around everywhere. The exported .adieqpr file (see my example set) is below 2 KB only, easily editable even outside the ADI-2 Remote (xml). We should end up with a big library (big in number of files, but small in size) of adieqpr files of most headphones on the market. And more.

Re: Wonderful video on linearizing headphones

As a new user I found the video informative, especially the use of 'Load B/T' to make a 7-band PEQ for Oratory1990/HD650.

However I was trying to use this in conjunction with Dual EQ, setting a different high shelf in Band T for each channel. (I have HF hearing loss on one side.) I found that any parameter adjustment of Band T (or Band B) in Phones L was mirrored into Phones R (and vice versa).

Am I correct in assuming that Dual EQ can only store L/R EQ settings for the main 5 bands, and that Bands B & T are always common to both channels?

Thanks. I've worked around it by adjusting the Oratory1990 settings down to 5 bands.
