Topic: Question about B/T under Loudness (ADI-2 DAC)

Are the Bass/Trebel filters under the Loudness the same filter to those that can be loaded with PEQ as 6th & 7th band?

Which means,

if I change filter frequency of B/T will it also effect Loudness function?

Or do they function completely independent, so that I can use it almost like 9 band EQ?

I've looked for relevant infos in the manual but couldn't find one.

Re: Question about B/T under Loudness (ADI-2 DAC)

Loudness is level dependant. B/T and PEQ is not

ADI-2 DAC, ADI-2 PRO, DigifaceUSB, UCXII, ARC, HEGEL.h80, KEF.ls50, HD650, ie400pro _,.\''/.,_

“Bass/Treble” and “Loudness” are completely independent functions.
One does not affect the other.

Of course they can be combined.

Thank you for answers.

Are the default filter parameters for Loudness specified somewhere?

The default parameters are in the manual.

To get the full advantage of ADI-2’s Loudness function, it’s necessary to adapt at least the Low Vol Ref parameter to your listing habits.
Default won’t do.

You can follow the advice in the manual or use my suggested, more detailed method for this:

Really?
I couldn't find any other than default gain (+7db).
But freq & Q are not seem to be specified anywhere in the manual.

Thanks to the remote app the Low Vol Ref setting is now very easy to access so that I change it frequently.
I have 1 CIEM, 2 headphones, and 1 pair of active speakers, on which "normal listening level" vary a lot.
I think I should make different setups for each of them.

Loudness‘ frequency and Q-factor are not user adjustable.

I understand that they are not user adjustable.
I just want to know the parameters to simulate them in PEQ,
and to see how the final graphs would look like when they are combined with other filters in PEQ & BT.

Just out of pure curiosity :)

Use a manually adjustable sine wave generator app and watch the meters post EQ.

Now you can compensate the Loudness curve with an inverted PEQ setting until the meters don’t move when sweeping through the freq. range.
As boost/cut is symmetric in the PEQ the result shows the values (with negative gain).

Looking at the curves in the DAC manual page 59 I‘d estimate:

  • Bass:   Gain: +10, Freq.:  70 Hz,   Q: 0.7
    Treble: Gain: +10, Freq.: 3.5 kHz, Q: 0.6

My big thanks for doing the experiment for me.
I'll note that down.

That was just an estimate based on the visuals.
Anyway, I just did the test, the precise result for Loudness full engaged is:

  • Bass:   Gain: +10, Freq.:  70 Hz,   Q: 0.7
    Treble: Gain: +10, Freq.: 3.5 kHz, Q: 0.7

Thank you very much again.
That information should have been on the manual!
