Topic: Apollo X16 RME equivalent

RME should totally make an Apollo X16 equivalent.

16 analog I/O which shows up as 1-16 on the DAW
USB connection
TotalMix FX (reverbs etc are essential in project studios)

Maybe headphone outs, maybe some digital I/O too.

*Lots* of people I know are trying to ditch their Apollos but finding RME don’t quite make the right box…

Just saying.

Re: Apollo X16 RME equivalent

The m1610 Pro will give you 16 AD and 8 DA plus the headphones. Then plug that into a MADIface USB as the interface.  That's about the same size and price (the external power supply on the Apollo is probably bigger than the MADIface).  The m1610 has fewer DA but some advantages like redundant internal power supplies, ADAT, AVB, and MADI.  The Apollo will support all the UAD plugins of course.

One thing the Apollo will support is adding other interfaces with more channels or mic preamps and allowing you to mix and monitor all of them in a single instance of their Console app.

Re: Apollo X16 RME equivalent

Hi and welcome to the RME user forum.

There are already two forum threads where the demand for an RME 16/16 channel AD/DA converter has been raised and detailed:

https://forum.rme-audio.de/viewtopic.php?id=33530
https://forum.rme-audio.de/viewtopic.php?pid=203821

I would propose to stop here with your request for a 16/16 port AD/DA converter from RME.
Many other people have wished for it for quite some time.

Regarding your other questions, I opened a new thread.
